About Serious Games
I design serious games that go beyond traditional training by combining immersive storytelling, interactive problem-solving, and real-world application. With a focus on engagement and measurable outcomes, my games challenge players to think critically, make decisions, and apply skills in meaningful ways. Whether for education, healthcare, or technical training, I craft experiences that motivate learners, adapt to their progress, and ensure knowledge sticks long after the game ends.
The Game Is the Lesson
Every feature in a serious game has to earn its place in the specific product it's built for. I design from the objective out, not from the feature set in. What works in a compliance training for healthcare won't work in a technical maintenance simulation.
That means narrative and reward have to be integrated into the learning objective, not layered on top of it. In one project, unlocking a virtual instructor avatar who holds students to a stricter standard became the incentive, because the task demanded that level of focus and precision. The reward and the learning goal were the same thing.
Most serious games don't work that way. Stars for completing a section, a story wrapped around a quiz — these are features plopped on top of learning objectives rather than built into the experience. The result is something disjointed, neither game nor lesson, stuck somewhere in between.
